standsinacreek reviewed the location Chesapeake Bay.
Having lived in the Mid-Atlantic area for most of my life, and having had many chances to fish in almost every state in the country, I can honestly say that the Chesapeake Bay dispite all its many problems (and it has alot) is still some of the best water to fish anywhere.

standsinacreek reviewed the location Gunpowder Falls.
This section of the Gunpowder is known for its Blue Ribbon trout fishery. This section is artificial lures only. See MDNR regulations for boundries. Many current variations make this difficult water to fish. The fish here are wise, due to heavy fishing pressure. This is very cold clear water and 6x tippit is recommended. Try to bring new flys with you. The old stand by's will get you small ones but large fish are educated and need to see something different than your run of the fly shop purchased flys.

standsinacreek reviewed the location Gunpowder Falls.
This is a Blue Ribbon trout stream. It is difficult to fish due to its tricky currents and smart fish. Very heavy pressure here. and the water is cold. I have heard the saying that you can get hyporthermia and heat exhaustion in the same day.
Consult DNR information on regulations as there are many!

  • NOAA Charts - We have just added NOAA Charts to our Map tab as a new Background layer! We hope these charts will help all you saltwater anglers better plot and plan your next fishing trip. NOAA Disclaimer: CHARTS ARE NOT TO BE USED FOR NAVIGATIONAL PURPOSES. These charts can be used as a planning or analysis tool but may not be used as a navigational aid. Huge thanks to Marine GeoGarage for providing the map service for us to use!

  • Cabela's - We have just teamed up with Cabela's as well! Within the next few days, expect the Find Gear section to expand with gear from the Cabela's product catalog. This new addition not only makes it easy to purchase gear, but it will also help you find items you currently own and add them to your Tackle Box. We hope this new relationship makes MD Fish Finder your one-stop-shop for all your fishing needs!

  • Spread the Word - Throughout the site, we have added icons to make it easy to share your trips, locations, and posts with your friends in other social networks. These links should really help promote the site, so take the extra few seconds to help spread the word!

December 20, 2010
  • Bass Pro Shops - Just in time for the holidays, we have teamed up with Bass Pro Shops to add a new Find Gear section to the site. Now you can search for and purchase gear at discounted prices from Bass Pro Shops, while at the same time supporting MD Fish Finder. We have also developed the ability to add items to your "Tackle Box", so you can keep track of and share your gear with fellow anglers.

  • Layar Mobile App - We have just learned that our fishing locations and hotspots have been approved and published to the new Layar application available on the IPhone and Android. If you have one of these devices, you can download the Layar application to find fishing locations and hotspots using your phone's camera! We are also continuing to develop our custom Android application, so stay tuned for updates. In the meantime, we hope you enjoy using the Layar application.
April 7, 2010
  • Map Enhancements - Completely reworked the Map tab on the site. New drop down menus for the map, a location list, cleaner popups, marker management, and various performance improvements.
  • Trip Wizard - Added a Trip Wizard to make it easier to create trips! Now you can create a trip in 3 simple steps. Also, you can now define other Fish Finder users who attended the trip with you. Make them contributers so they can add photos, hotspots, and details that you might have missed.
  • Encryption - We have added RSA encryption to all login and sign up forms. It adds a couple seconds to logins, but we feel you will appreciate the extra level of security!
